Support When You’re in School
Finding out you are pregnant while you are still in school brings its own set of challenges. You may be wondering how this affects your education, what your rights are, or who you can talk to safely. Those are valid questions, and you deserve clear, trustworthy information.
The Pregnancy Center of Coshocton is a confidential, no-cost resource available to anyone in high school or college. You have the right to make your own decisions, and we are here to help you get the information you need.
Your visit, questions, and details you share are kept completely private.
Your Rights as a Student: Title IX
Under Title IX, schools that receive federal funding are required to treat pregnancy like any other temporary medical condition and ensure you can continue your education without discrimination.
This generally includes things like:
- Excused absences related to pregnancy, childbirth, or recovery
- The ability to make up missed assignments, exams, or classwork
- Reasonable adjustments, such as extra breaks or seating accommodations, when needed
- Continued participation in classes, programs, and school activities without being pushed out because of pregnancy
Knowing what protections exist can make it easier to understand your options and decide how to move forward. If you are unsure how to talk with your school or what to ask for, we can help you think that through.
